Wish I knew the right words to bring comfort in your time of grief Kathy but everything I think up seems woefully inadequate I will say this though, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. May God grant you all peace and strength.

I know that there is nothing I can say to make the hurt go away. However you do need to know that there are friends and family around you thinking about you and caring. I am very sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

    Kathy,
I am so glad that you were able to be with your dad and your family at the end. Being there for them shows what a wonderful daughter, sister and friend you truly are. I’m thinking of you and know that I’m here for you.

Thank you so much, Miss Katie Dee. I am so glad I was here because we had some precious moments that I will always treasure. You have to take the bitter with the sweet otherwise how can you appreciate the good things that life has to offer? I’m sad, and I’m going to miss him something fierce, but I know he’s in a better place and we did all we could to make his last days peaceful. I think that’s all we can ask for. But I will admit I am beyond ready to go home!!!

    Kathy,
A dad’s love is like no other kind of love and when we lose that hero in our lives it’s a pain with scars forever marking your heart. My dad was born in 1935 too but we lost him in 1988, 24 years ago. I still get teary when I think of him and know he is near to comfort me. I am jealous of the longer time you got with your dad but very happy you did.
Heartfelt blessing to you and your family,
    Patty

Thank you so much, Patty. My husband joined the Air Force in ’88 so we haven’t lived by my parents since then. We did see them regularly and we took a few vacations together. I am just glad that I was able to spend time with him these past weeks. It was a difficult time, but I’ll always cherish the extra time we had together. And I am very sorry for the loss of your dad. He was certainly too young to go when he did.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Words never come to me at the right time, but you have been in my thoughts and in my prayers. I hope you can find some comfort in your memories and that he will stay dear and near to your heart. I truly believe grief is the hardest emotion to experience and I pray you find comfort during this difficult time.

Thank you so much, Heather. I think you did a fabulous job finding the right words. I still find it so hard to believe he went so quickly and unexpectedly. It hits me when I least expect it that he really is gone. I have some beautiful memories of him and I really do appreciate the times we had together.

Thank you, Claudia. It still does not seem real even though it’s been a week. I suspect it will take a little longer for his death to really sink in.

Hope that your family is finding strength and comfort in one another during your time of grief. I know that many people are sending love and prayers your way. You will always miss him but I have learned that talking about those you have loved and lost keeps them with you. If you need to talk, just let me know!
