New Holiday Release and Book Giveaway

Thanks so much for hosting me, Kathy. It’s great to be here today. I chose the excerpt below from my new holiday story, Cowboy Jackpot: Christmas, because it combines romance and s-e-x to make a very sensually tense moment.

I teach a class on writing sexy sex scenes, and as research, I asked a group of readers which sexual tension technique they liked best: 1) the character thinking about the hot things they want to do with the other character, 2) the character telling the other character what hot things they want to do with them, or 3) the characters actually doing them.

Overwhelmingly, readers preferred number two, one person telling the other what seductive things they want to do with them. Whispered on a warm breath into that person’s ear, how could anyone resist?

The lovely advantage of writing erotic romance is that I can make my story as romantically deep as I’d like, while having the freedom to show my hero and heroine making love to one another. The combination is my favorite to write, and my addiction to read.

I’ve read erotica, where there is no Happily Ever After or a Happily For Now ending, and it just doesn’t make me warm and cozy inside. Sure, the s-e-x is hot, but without the hearts connecting, it leaves me somehow unfulfilled. I guess I’m just a sappy romance addict. Especially this time of year, when I read every Christmas romance I can get my hands on, and watch every cheesy holiday romance movie available. It’s those little things that make me the happiest!

Hope you’re having a great holiday season!

Here’s the book blurb:

A lucky first kiss in front of a Las Vegas slot machine pays off big for bull rider Boone Hancock and New York college student Gigi Colberg-Staub. During the day they spend together as VIP guests of the casino, an intense attraction develops. Throughout the night they share in the big bed of the comped suite, hot, sensual moves ignite wild climaxes.

When Gigi receives a miscommunication, she believes Boone thinks of her as one-night buckle bunny. She confronts him, but Boone convinces himself it’s best for both of them if she goes on believing that, and he lets her walk out of his life. When he realizes his mistake, and then sees the sacrifice Gigi made for him, is it too late to win her back?

Excerpt:

The band started a slow song.

“Belly rubbing music.” Boone stood and held out his hand.

Gigi placed her warm little palm in his. “Careful, cowboy. Last time we started rubbing bellies, we almost ended up in bed.”

He groaned, picturing her on the golden bedspread, her pale skin glowing, her dark hair fanned out. Her arms reaching for him.

Pulling her close, he nibbled at her ear. “I wanna touch you. Every perfect inch of you.”

She shivered and sighed, closing her eyes.

“When I pull off your clothes, I’m going to taste you, slowly, and kiss your breasts until you beg for more.”

“More.” The word left her mouth on a breath.

In his jeans, his cock pulsed, taking too much blood from his head, making him dizzy with the need to have her. “When I kiss your belly, you’ll grab my hair and push my mouth lower, into your sweet, honey lips.”

A tiny cry escaped her. Her cheeks glowed pink and her head lolled on her neck.

He ran his tongue from her earlobe down her neck. “You’re delicious. I won’t be able to get enough of you.”

“Boone.” She licked her lips and opened her eyes. Her hazel irises had turned to a dark gray. “You have to stop or I’m going to be a puddle on the floor.”

He chuckled. “Hold on to me. I’m here for you.” Always.

What do you like best about romances? The buildup of sexual tension? The seductive promises spoken softly? Or the love scenes where the couple finally comes together? Leave a comment! I’m giving away an ecopy of one of my backlist books to one lucky person.

I love the buildup also, when the characters tell each other what they going to do to them, then fulfill their promise later in the book! Thanks for the giveaway!

I’m going to say I’d rather they be going at it. I like the charactors doing the deal. LOL. Don’t put me in the contest, I’ve already read the book. It was AWESOME! Thanks Randi and Thanks to Kathy for hosting her. Happy New Year!

definitely the build up of sexual tension is always a good. Love your stories. Thanks for stopping by.

    • Thanks for the kind words, Eileen. I’m writing a story right now, and I keep putting in more sexual promise. Sheesh, pretty soon those poor characters are going to pass out from all the tension!

  8. Timitra

All of the above (sexual tension, seductive promises and love scenes) are reasons why I love romance!

    • I agree, Timitra, I love reading romance novels, and writing them is just as much fun – but takes a lot longer. It’s great because it keeps the story and characters in my head for a long time.

  9. Sherry

Love the build up and I really want to read this book. 🙂

  10. Ruth S

I love the build up. 😉 The S-E-X scenes are one of the reasons I love romance books! Thanks for the giveaway! 🙂

    • Ruth, I’m with you, there! I’ve read some of the sweeter romances, where there’s no s-e-x, and I kind of have to make up my own sex scenes in my mind. LOL Kind of naughty, huh?

  11. Suze

I love the will they/ wont they build up – done well its just as good as the actual! Liked the excerpt scene.
