Summary:

Some men can’t be tamed…

Domesticity can starve a man’s soul, and drifter cowboy Luke Griffin believes in absolute freedom. His gig at the Last Chance Ranch will end soon, and he’ll move on. But then Luke gets splashed by a green energy drink from a platform in a tree, and suddenly things get complicated.

Naomi Perkins was studying the nesting of a rare pair of bald eagles when she accidentally “baptizes” the delish cowboy. And when his shirt comes off…good morning, libido! But this attraction isn’t just mutual—it’s fierce enough to send them both tumbling into a no-strings fling.

It’s a temporary arrangement, even if it is way more intense than anything Naomi could have imagined. But when the time comes, will she be able to let this wild cowboy go?

The Review:

Wild at Heart is a super steamy installment in Vicki Lewis Thompson’s Sons of Chance series. This standalone romance does not feature any of the Chance clan but there a few guest appearances by characters from previous stories.

Ranch hand Luke Griffin never stays in anywhere longer than a year. Nor does he get involved in committed relationships. With just a few months left at his current job on the Last Chance Ranch, the timing is perfect for a no strings fling with local Naomi Perkins. Naomi and Luke are soon indulging in some pretty lusty adventures but will they be able to keep their emotions out of their short term affair?

Luke and Naomi are complete opposites. Luke enjoys his nomadic life and meeting new people. He never stays anywhere longer than a year and he never gets too involved with the women in he meets along the way. Naomi does not mind occasional travel, but she likes having a place to call home and a support system. Luke is upfront about keeping their relationship casual, and when Naomi looks at it logically, she can see no reason not to act on her desire.

Luke and Naomi are a great couple. Their sex scenes are deliciously sensual and there are plenty of them. Even though their relationship has a built in expiration date, they still take the time to get to know one another. Luke recognizes his time with Naomi is different than other women he has been with, but he continues to stick with his plan to eventually leave. Naomi is pretty intuitive and she is quick to understand the reasons for Luke’s wanderlust. But she also knows that Luke has to figure things out on his own even though he might just break her heart.

Wild at Heart is a delightfully angst free, light read. This fast paced and engaging romance has plenty of heat as Naomi and Luke give in to their passion. There is a little bit of conflict between Naomi and Luke, but it is resolved fairly quickly. An overall satisfying addition to Vicki Lewis Thompson’s Sons of Chance series.
