Blog Tour Stop, Interview & Giveaway: Carolyn Brown’s The Cowboy’s Mail Order Bride

I am so excited to welcome author Carolyn Brown to Book Reviews & More by Kathy. I am a HUGE fan of her books and I am tickled pink she took the time to answer my “get to know you” questions for today’s interview. Oh and be sure and stick around, because you’ll get the chance to win print copies of the first 3 novels in Ms. Brown’s fabulous Cowboys & Brides series AND a cute cowboy charm.

Kathy: What book do you recommend everyone should read? Do you have a comfort read?

Ms. Brown: First I wanted to say Hello all y’all. It is so exciting to be here today. I brought Emily and Greg with me so if you’ve got any comments or questions for any of us; we’ll be around most of the day. Pull up a rocking chair and let’s visit!

As for the question: Oh, my goodness! I’m not sure I could pick just one but if I had to pick one book to take with me if I was going to be stuck on an island it would be the Bible. It has so many fantastic stories in it and it is my comfort read. But then I could also recommend Gone With the Wind. There are so many personalities in there, so much going on in the wake of a way of life changing more drastically than any other time in history. I’ve read it over and over and find something new to appreciate each and every time. But if it was one of my own books, I’d take The Blue Ribbon Jalapeno Society Jubilee, because Agnes makes me laugh. Or if I could sneak a second book into the mix it would have to be The Cowboy’s Mail Order Bride because it blends the old and the new together.

Kathy: What is your guilty pleasure?

Ms. Brown: Donuts with maple sugar icing or any kind of cookies. Diet Coke is my ultimate guilty pleasure but alas my doctor (I’m sure he talked to Lucifer before he told me) said I can’t have it anymore. I didn’t tell him about donuts and cookies or he’d probably ban them, too!

Kathy: Favorite meal?

Ms. Brown: Oh, that’s easy—fried chicken, hot yeast rolls, mashed potatoes, sawmill gravy, corn on the cob, green beans with lots of ham and bacon cooked in them, and pecan pie (or if the pecans aren’t fresh, lemon meringue pie will do quite nicely). Emily (The Cowboy’s Mail Order Bride) likes good food, too, and she’s quite a cook which she proves at a domino game.

Kathy: If you weren’t a writer, what would you be?

Ms. Brown: I can’t imagine not being a writer. It’s always been my dream but if I hadn’t sold that first book, I’d probably still be working in a newspaper company writing stories, making ads and putting pages together each week. In a world where I could be what I could imagine instead of what was necessary, I’d probably be a race car driver or a lazy beach bum.

Kathy: If you could time travel, what time period would you visit?

Ms. Brown: That would be the pre-Civil War area. I’d like to go have a long talk with Scarlett O’Hara. Of course I wouldn’t want to stay long because I’m very spoiled to indoor plumbing and air conditioning but it would be fun to go to one of those parties and to wear one of those beautiful gowns just one evening.

Kathy: I really enjoyed your answers and I had to laugh at your guilty pleasure answer! Now I positively adored The Blue Ribbon Jalapeno Society Jubilee and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. And, wow, race car driver or beach bum-talk about opposite ends of the spectrum! Again, thank you so much for chatting with us today and congratulations on your new release, The Cowboy’s Mail Order Bride!

When sexy rancher Greg Adams discovers his grandmother Clarice has installed Emily on their ranch as her assistant, he decides to humor the two ladies. He figures Emily will move on soon enough. In the meantime, he intends to keep a close eye on her—he doesn’t quite buy her story of his grandmother as a mail-order bride.

Thanks for the interview Always fun learning about authors. Thanks for the contest too.

    • Good morning, Tess
All of us are excited this morning about The Cowboy’s Mail Order Bride hitting the shelves today. Even the secondary characters, Clarice and all her buddies, are jumping around for joy!

Thanks for the giveaway – like hearing about new books and what is going on with the authors. And the chance to win as well. Carolyn’s cowboy books are great.

    • Thank you! When the four cowboys in this series arrived on my “virtual” porch with hats in hand wanting me to tell their stories, I sure had misgivings. They were all rich and we’re supposed to write about what we know but it didn’t take long for those sexy smiles to convince me that they were just plain old cowboys with a bigger bank account than some of the other cowboys who’ve told me their stories.

  3. Kim Cornwell

I love reading Agnes’s story! I haven’t found a book by Carolyn that I didn’t like! Seriously a race car driver? I longed to do that and got the chance a few years ago. I took my 1965 impala SS with its 454 motor to the Atlanta motor speedway for the Friday Night Drag races. I only raced 2 times! OMG what an adrenaline rush! My hubby continued the season and came in 2nd place. He got beat by a girl and I will never let him live it down!

    • I’m so jealous, Kim. I would have loved to have been there to see that especially in that car. It was a classic for sure. Let’s hear it for the girls who have the nerve to race … and live on the beach! LOL

  4. Karen T.

    Always enjoy your books.

  5. Christine LaCombe

thanks for this giveaway, I love cowboys, 🙂 your favorite meal made my mouth water, I too love fried chicken and mashed potatoes n gravy.

    • My mama could make the best fried chicken in the whole world. I’ve learned to make it like she did but it never comes up to her standard. And it could be a sin not to serve it with mashed potatoes and gravy. I’m not going to take a chance on that business! Greg is strutting around in front of Emily right now telling her that you said COWBOYS in your comment! I love it when they banter!

  6. Diane Sallans

I haven’t read a cowboy story recently – these look like a great choice! I’d love one of those fried chicken dinners – perfect comfort food for these snowy winter days!

    • Emily and Greg would love to entertain you with their story. And now that I’ve mentioned it, I’m craving fried chicken. Guess I’d better call my daughter. I can’t have a fried chicken dinner without her.

  7. Helen L.

I love a good cowboy story and yours are great.

  8. Ruth S.

    • The whole cast of The Cowboy’s Mail Order Bride is so excited that this story is now available. Clarice and Dotty and all the ladies as well as Greg and Emily.

  10. Timitra

    Great interview.

  11. Cheryl Sanders

Love the cover! Sounds like a great read 🙂 I just love cowboys! Thank you for the giveaway!

  12. H.B.

Sounds like such a fun read. It’ll be fun to see Greg fall for Emily and fight his feelings.

    • Oh, they do fight their feelings all right. She doesn’t want to commit and he sure doesn’t want to do so! And the old gals have tricks up their sleeves and there’s that ex-girlfriend.

  13. Shelly W

Love Carolyn’s books and cowboys. 🙂
Thanks for the great reads and giveaway
