Blog Tour Stop & Interview: Heart of A Champion Boxed Set

champion 1

For today’s blog stop for their Heart of a Champion boxed set, authors Kelly Jamieson, Morgan Kearns, Roz Lee and Chanta Rand graciously answered a few get to know you questions.

Kathy: Welcome to Book Reviews & More by Kathy. What book do you recommend everyone should read? Do you have a comfort read?

Kelly J: I could never recommend one book! I read so much and enjoy so many authors.

Cassandra: I won’t recommend one specific book, but I think people should read the classics. They’re classics for a reason. Not all of them are great books, honestly, but many are.

Roz: I have two book recommendations and they couldn’t be more different. My all-time favorite is ATLAS SHRUGGED by Ayn Rand. I’ve read it at least twenty times. Second, I’d say HOT HEAD by Damon Suede. The setting is post 9-11 in NYC with flashbacks to the day. The imagery and emotions are spot-on and extremely well-written. My comfort read is Historical Romance, particularly Regency era. I love my Lords and ladies!

Morgan: Everyone should read Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. Jamie Fraser is the greatest fictional character ever written. That’s saying something, since I write fictional characters for a living!

Chanta: Roots by Alex Haley. It’s a great novel filled with history, lust, conflict, politics, and a determination of the human spirit to prevail. The movie is a work of art, but the book discusses a lot of the dynamics going on in our country and throughout the world at that time that you don’t get to see in the movie. It’s heart-breaking, inspiring, and deeply moving.

Kathy: What is your guilty pleasure?

Kelly J: We should never feel guilty about pleasure. J

Cassandra: I like Kelly’s answer, but I will admit there are days when my daughter is out of the house, either at school or with friends/relatives, and I just lie on the couch or even in bed and watch movies all day.

Roz: Chocolate and reading – not necessarily in that order. I have both of them stashed all over my house.

Morgan: Guilty Pleasure is Oreo Milkshakes. Love them! I know that’s not very “guilty” but that’s how I roll…lol

Chanta: Any flavor of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. They are one of the few brands of ice cream that have made a conscious effort to eliminate GMOs (Genetically modified Organisms) and RBGHs (Bovine Growth Hormones) from their products. I’m dedicated in the fight to remove harmful chemicals and genetically modified foods from our foods.

Kathy: Favorite meal?

Kelly J: I’d have to go with pizza, I guess. There’s so much variety – thin or thick crust, spicy sauce or not, and of course all the different toppings.

Cassandra: I’m starting to think Kelly and I are the same person. I’m a huge fan of pizza! I would eat it every day if I could.

Roz: Tex-Mex, which is non-existent in New Jersey!

Morgan: Mushroom Ravioli from Olive Garden

Chanta: I don’t really have a favorite meal. I’m an equal opportunity eater – and I have the hips to prove it! I’m in a committed relationship with my scale. I’m committed not to step on the darn thing.

Kathy: If you weren’t a writer, what would you be?

Cassandra: Before I started writing, I was in marketing and PR. I really enjoyed trade show and event planning. There’s something incredibly satisfying about taking a kernel of a concept and making it into an entire event.

Roz: A Science teacher. I love science so you would think I’d write in the paranormal, sci-fi or even steampunk genres, wouldn’t you? LOL I’d probably get lost in the research and forget to write, so I’ll leave that to others.

Chanta: Ooh, that’s a hard one. Either an extra zombie on The Walking Dead or a professional bowler. I love bowling! In fact, I just bought a zombie bowling ball. Now, I’m looking for matching shoes. If anyone comes across a pair, email me at Chanta@ChantaRand.com.

Kathy: If you could time travel, what time period would you visit?

Cassandra: You know, the Regency/Victorian periods sound like fun—if I could be an aristocrat. 😉 But there are definitely some things I wouldn’t be crazy about, like chamber pots and how everyone had to wear perfume or cologne to cover the stink because they couldn’t bathe every day. So, I think I’ll skip that. I’m going with the 1920’s. That era looks fascinating.

Roz: I think I would have made a great pioneer woman, so 1800’s in the American West. I could hang out with my ancestors who were given land grants by the Republic of Texas. J

Morgan: Scotland… BEFORE Culloden. I’d love to see the Highlands in their prime…and maybe run into Jamie Fraser in the flesh. 😉

Chanta: Ancient Egypt, of course. I’m so enamored with that time period, I wrote two historical romances about it. Pharaoh’s Desire and Goddess. They’re filled with murder, mayhem, and of course, romance hotter than the Egyptian sun. Well, not that hot—but you get the point!

Kathy: Ladies, thank you so much for chatting with us today! Congratulations on the release of the Heart of a Champion boxed set!

Enjoy football, baseball and hockey heroes in Should’ve Known Better, Offside, In It To Win It, Inside Heat and The Highest Bidder.

Should’ve Known Better (Storm Series, #1) by Cassandra Carr – Sarah Jenkins, a math geek and hockey fanatic, is thrilled when the NHL hires her as an advisor for the Buffalo Storm. She meets Sebastian St. Amant, a young hockey player looking to make the jump from the minors to the big leagues. When Sarah and Sebastian meet, sparks immediately fly. A relationship is out of the question—Sarah’s an influential staff member and Sebastian’s a player, not to mention over ten years her junior. But the impossible becomes the necessary when they can no longer fight their attraction. Will they weather the storm, or should they have known better?

Offside (Heller Brothers, #5) by Kelly Jamieson – Honey Holbrook’s attention-grabbing antics were tabloid fodder for years. Now she’s trying to leave her past behind her and make a new life for herself. Neither of them are happy to be working together again after their wild and wicked fling eight years ago ended badly…

In It To Win It (Deadlines & Diamonds, #2) by Morgan Kearns – Back in the day, ‘Plain Jane’ Alexander blended into the background, content to watch from the sidelines while Grayson Pierce soaked up the spotlight. Content until he broke her heart. Bitter, she did the college thing, came out of her shell, and never looked back. Grayson loves baseball. It was his pastime in high school, his passion in college, and now…his career. However baseball isn’t the only thing in Grayson’s heart. He likes fast cars, loose women and expensive liquor. When her job as a Sportscaster sends her to Grayson’s doorstep, she realizes that not everything is as it appears.

Inside Heat (Mustangs Baseball, #1) by Roz Lee – Jeff and Jason are at the top of their game. Jeff is the Texas Mustangs’ closer, revered throughout the Major League for throwing inside heat, while his twin brother Jason is the team’s starting catcher and star hitter. The two have always shared more than their identical DNA, so when they meet Megan, it’s no wonder they both want her.

Megan doesn’t know baseball, but she does know a sexy guy when she sees one – or two. When a potentially career-ending injury sidelines Jeff, his ego takes a hit, too. Megan finds herself on the outside – the dirty little secret. It doesn’t help that Jeff has gotten the wrong impression about her and his brother. It’s all fun and games until someone falls in love.

The Highest Bidder by Chanta Rand – Quarterback Tristan Rexford is a hunter both on and off the football field. With a seven-figure income, a dazzling smile, and a body resembling Michelangelo’s David, he’s every woman’s fantasy.

But Doctor Alexa Kennedy barely has time for her patients, much less fantasies. When it comes to men, she’s short on patience and long on disappointment. When one of the hospital’s board members attends a charity benefit and ends up with the winning bid for a date with Tristan, Alexa is chosen to escort him.

They share a night of passion before Tristan retreats to his glamorous world, leaving her aching for more. Alexa tells herself it was all in the name of charity. She’s too sensible to fall for someone like Tristan. Or is she?
