Pulling Leather Soundtrack

by L.C. Chase

G’day everyone! Welcome to my Pulling Leather blog tour and a peek into the world of rodeo cowboys. (The official schedule can be found here.) This wouldn’t be a proper tour without some prezzies, of course, so read on for giveaway details. Thank you to Book Reviews & More by Kathy, for hosting my cowboys, and to all of you for hopping in the saddle to ride along!

* * *

I always write to music. Half the time I have no idea what the lyrics are or what the song is about, it’s just how the music hits me, what it makes me feel. Sometimes it’s one line, a phrase, a word, that strikes a chord. More than once music, or a lyric in a song, grabs my attention and sparks an entire story, based on whatever emotion that music inspires.

While writing Pulling Leather, every song that struck me put me deeper into Scott’s head. Cory knows who he is. He’s strong and secure and has risen above every obstacle thrown at him. Scott on the other hand, he’s got a long road to haul and needed a little more help. These songs made he think of Scott in one way or another, how he needed to overcome, things that had held him down, and how Cory’s light became a beacon for him.

And onto the music! Enjoy. 🙂

Broken BellsHolding On For Life

Nowhere else to go
And you never know
What to his and what to show, no

You’re holding on for life
Holding on for life, love
Holding on for love

Bahamas – Lost in the Light

And I held my own
Still I rattled your bones
I said some awful things and I take them back

If we would try again
Just remember when
Before we were lovers, I swear we were friends

So if someone could see me now let them see you

Ed Sheeran – Bloodstream

Ripping out pages
How’d I get so faded
How’d I get so faded
This is how it ends
I feel the chemicals burn in my bloodstream
Fading out again
I feel the chemicals burn in my bloodstream
So tell me when it kicks in

Trevor HallHouse

Well my body said just turn and run
But then I felt the light of the sun
In the heart that I thought had just died
Started coming slowly alive
We awoke in the mansion above and
Call it love

Ben Sigston – Turn Around

There’s nothing to say that’s already said
It’s the place that you go
It’s the thoughts in your head
And it’s you, it’s you I see

Summary:

The toughest ride of his life is all in his head.

Bull rider Scott Gillard has a reputation for quick fists and harsh words. What no one knows is where that anger comes from. After a shocking incident sends him into a tailspin, he knows he needs help: he’s been fighting a battle he could never win. Now he’s trying to navigate a new life and embrace his true self, but some days are easier than others.

Pickup man Cory Ackerson has suffered his share of harassment, but his light still burns bright. He doesn’t let anything or anyone keep him down, so when he meets the rugged cowboy with a battered chip on his shoulder and regret in his dark eyes, all he wants to do is help.

As their unlikely friendship grows into something deeper, Scott must overcome his past to be the man Cory deserves, or lose his best chance at his own happily ever after.

It takes a lot to redeem someone like Scott. I’m curious to see how the author did that. Looking forward to reading the book!

P.S. In my country there are enough rock stars, but I haven’t seen a single cowboy, so I definitely prefer cowboys 🙂

  2. Charlotte

    Cowboy would be better.

  3. Trix

    Fun playlist, very varied!

  4. Trinitee Mitchell-Dunn

Cowboy, because they have manners and they are strong and those cowboy hats

  5. Joseph Hawkshaw

Rock star i am not into cowgirls.

  6. Katherine

Cowboys – stoic; rock stars – self-centered. I prefer cowboys. But these are my stereotypes, not real life.

  7. SHELLEY S

ROCK STAR. THANKS FOR THE GIVEAWAY!

  8. Yvonne Rodriguez

I’m from Texas so Cowboy, of course. 🙂

  9. Suzanne Edwards

Cowboy, all the way! They are rugged, sassy, hard working, adventurous, most are graceful, daring, courageous, fearless, determined, strong willed and minded, and most of all powerfully skilled. Rock stars are just too wild 🙂

  10. Diane Sallans

Cowboy – maybe one that sings! I’d love a paperback!
