The Review:

Patti Ann Colt’s The Rock Star’s Sheriff is a delightfully heartwarming contemporary romance. Leia Shae’s move to the small town of Parson Corners provides her with a new perspective on her successful career as a pop singer, new friendships and a sense of family. She also falls head over heels in love with Sheriff Zach Murphy but will his painful past tear this couple apart?

Despite her fame, Leia is refreshingly down to earth and open-hearted. She is protective of her new life and goes to great lengths to keep it out of the limelight. She is not a spoiled diva who needs her every whim catered to, and she is fiercely loyal to the people who helped make her a star. Leia is also willing to bare her soul to the man she loves despite her uncertainty of his feelings for her.

Zach is a single dad with a semi-rebellious twelve year daughter. He has a warm loving relationship with his close-knit family. He also shares a tumultuous past with his daughter’s mother that keeps him closely safeguarding his heart.

The Rock Star’s Sheriff is a well written novel with a realistic storyline and engaging characters. Zach and Leia’s relationship slowly evolves from friendship to love over time. Zach’s daughter, Carlee, is a typical pre-teen who is adorable unless she is being moody, angry and pouty. While Carlee and Zach share some pretty heart melting scenes, they also have the normal father/daughter battles and arguments. The interactions between Zach and his brothers are filled with good natured teasing and affection. Ms. Colt brings the town of Parson Corners vividly to life with an eclectic cast of colorful and caring characters.

The Rock Star’s Sheriff is an absolutely charming story that pulls the reader deep into the heart of the Murphy family. And luckily for us, it is the first installment of Patti Ann Colt’s new series, Parson Corners. I am eagerly anticipating the stories Ms. Colt has planned for Zach’s brothers Beau, Wyatt and Ryder!
