Virtual Book Tour: Doubtless, Guest Blog by Cat Grant & Contest

Hello, everyone! Thanks for joining me on my Doubtless blog tour. (Didn’t I just do this last month? And the month before, and the month before that…) Leave a comment and you might win one of my backlist books!

I’m a big fan of friends-to-lovers romances, mostly because I know how true they are – my late husband and I were good friends for over ten years before we fell in love. Stories of unrequited love have always intrigued me, too, but I’ve never written one before, because . . . well, where’s the happy ending? Especially when the object of one’s affections is already taken?

Cue angst, insecurity and intense sexual frustration – aka, everything I love in a man. 🙂

But unrequited love doesn’t necessarily equate with an unhappy ending, as long as a healthy dose of self-discovery goes along with it. Steve Campbell, the hero of my new novella, Doubtless, has a lot to come to terms with – his newly-revealed bisexuality, and the fact that he’s fallen in love with Connor, his best friend / business partner. He’s also struggling with some serious self-esteem issues, which Dylan, a handsome escort (who happens to look a lot like Connor) is more than happy to help him with.

No, Steve doesn’t end up walking off into the sunset with Connor (or Dylan), though he does learn that Connor loves him back, in his own way. Which sounds like a pretty happy ending to me.

(But stay tuned – Steve will get his own love story soon! 🙂 )

You can order Doubtless HERE.

Title: Doubtless by Cat Grant
Publisher: Riptide Publishing
Genre: M/M, Contemporary, Erotic
Length: 53 pages/15,000 words

Summary:

Loving your best friend is hard . . . especially when he’s marrying someone else.

On the surface, Steve Campbell seems to have it all: a beautiful home, a snazzy car, and a dream job as one of the country’s top 3-D optics researchers. But underneath, he’s restless and dissatisfied, tired of empty encounters with leggy lab assistants and endless evenings alone.

A chance meeting with a handsome escort lifts Steve’s spirits and opens his eyes to his long-repressed attraction to men—and his love for his best friend and business partner, Connor Morrison.

Connor might’ve loved Steve like that once, but now it’s too late for their happily ever after; Connor’s about to ask his boyfriend to marry him. Fortunately, it’s never too late to learn about yourself, and maybe Steve can find a happy ending on his own.

I like the fact that your blog post and Kathy’s review is clear that the book deals with Steve’s journey of self discovery and does not having a HEA ending. It will make it more interesting and realistic when he does have his HEA in the next book.

Although it has never happened to me I’m a huge fan of friends to lovers.

Actually my hubby and I were friends before lovers so I always love that type of storyline.

I also appreciate that your review tells us what to expect without telling us the story. I hope to read this one soon!

    • I always like to let readers know what to expect – but the lack of a traditional HEA doesn’t mean the ending can’t be satisfying.

Good luck with the giveaway! 🙂
