We’re entering the home stretch now as we’re on the 2nd to last week of the His Salvation blog tour! Last week was the most successful week yet! I loved all of the comments and questions posed for this week’s follow up interview with Alex Ryker from His Salvation. I want to give a huge thank you to everyone who has hosted me as well as those who have participated and of course to today’s host, Kathy Branfield!
The prize this week is 4 charms (for anything you can imagine using them for) featuring items relating to my previous releases. The charms are handmade by me with glass beads, charms (a cowboy hat for Touch Me Gently, a snowflake for White Rain, a feather for Chasing Seth, and a unicorn for Fragments of a Unicorn’s Soul), and a lariat for attaching to a purse, a cell phone, zippers, hanging from your rearview mirror, and more! Please keep reading for details on how to enter! And remember a comment made every week earns you an entry into the Grand Prize drawing at the end of March. I will be doing the drawing April 1st!
Today, we welcome Alex Ryker in a follow up to the interview last week with Gabriel Romero. He’ll be answering the majority of the questions posted last week and a couple of others asked by me. Please make him feel at home.
Me: Welcome, Alex. How are you today?
Alex: I’m doing well. Thank you for asking.
Me: Last week I interviewed Gabriel and it seems there were quite a few readers who were interested in hearing from you about his responses. I think the one question I saw asked the most was what did you notice first about him? What was your first impression or thoughts of him?
Alex: *smiles in memory* His eyes. They were such a gorgeous golden honey color. Although I couldn’t help but be a little afraid of him as I didn’t know who he was and he seemed dangerous at first…
Me: What was it that made you fall in love with him? A word? A look? What truly made your heart melt over him?
Alex: Do we ever really know exactly when we fall in love? I think it’s more of when we realize we’ve fallen in love. But to answer your question, I think the closest I come to an answer anyway, is when I saw how much he cares about others despite the harsh walls he puts up. Even now he puts on a front for everyone, even for me sometimes still.
Me: There was one commenter who hadn’t read your story yet, but they were interested in hearing if you were hoping to fall in love? Was it something you’ve wanted in your life? Would you say the same was true for Gabriel?
Alex: I think if anyone says they don’t want to fall in love, they’re lying to themselves and the person who asked. I saw the love my grandfather had for my grandmother and I knew I would find the same thing one day. Gabriel… he didn’t believe he deserved love after everything that happened.
Me: But you changed his mind, right? *wink*
Alex: *laughs* You could say that. He fought me every step of the way, but I finally managed to bring him out of his shell.
Me: Alex, are you developing your abilities so Gabriel can choke on the “missions are too dangerous for you” comment? I would imagine that even if you don’t go on missions you will probably have to be able to save his ass if needed.
Alex: Since everything that happened at the compound, I’ve been working closely with Jackal and several of the others to get stronger, faster. I still don’t ever want to be forced to hurt someone, but I also don’t want to be helpless and unable to stop anyone from hurting Gabriel again. I know Gabe means well, but I am definitely going to become an agent for the ADA whether he likes it or not.
Me: Well it certainly sounds like you have him well in hand.
Alex: More than he knows. *laughs again*
Me: I asked Gabriel if you ever spoke about having children. He seemed pretty adamant about not having them. Do you want children? If so, how many do you want?
Alex: I most definitely want children. At least two so they’re not alone. I don’t know what I would have done without Jace by my side as we grew up. Gabriel is worried about how dangerous our lives are, but I don’t think it will take much for me to convince him otherwise. *grin*
Me: Oh I really want to know about this first kiss, Gabriel got me all curious. How was it, Alex? Is he a great kisser?
Alex: *flushes* It was amazing. Of course, I don’t have much else to compare it to considering it was my first kiss. I would have to say Gabriel is a wonderful kisser.
Me: Could you tell us a little more about how it happened?
Alex: I uh… we were… um.. Gabriel offered a massage for me since we’d been working really hard that day and things sort of just… happened.
Me: Things huh? *knowing smile*
Alex: *coughs* No comment.
Me: Oh, come now. Share with us more details than that. Please?
Alex: *hesitates* Well… I guess I can tell you all a little bit more. We were on his bed and when he reached for something on the nightstand, he ended up so close to me. Closer than anyone had every been before. I could feel his breath on my lips, caressing them like I wanted his lips to be. I could see the war in his eyes, he was fighting so hard with himself, but I didn’t give him the chance to decide. I pulled him down to me, brushing my lips over his. Oh, the soft groan he gave is a sound I will never forget.
Me: (I think he forgot I’m here. LOL)
Alex: He nearly stopped my heart when his tongue plunged into my mouth. I could feel everything down to my toes. The taste of him haunted my every minute afterward. *pauses and focuses* Oh… damn. *mutters* Gabriel is going to kill me.
Me: *chuckles* I think you’ll be okay. Now, in order to not overdo the time we have, I just have one last question. Do you think that everyone is a little bit ‘deviant’, either in your society’s sense of the word or the traditional meaning?
Alex: Deviant is a word used to describe something out of the norm, something that is not within society’s normal standards. And in a way we all have something in us that is considered ‘deviant. Overweight, underweight, white, black, blue eyes, green eyes, no one is exactly alike. Even Jace and I have some things that separate us. Grams used to say if we were all born the same, it would be a pretty boring world.
Me: That is a wonderful way to look at it, Alex. Your Grams sounds like she was a very smart woman. Well, unfortunately, that’s all the time we have for today. I hope everyone enjoyed the interview with Alex. I hear there’s going to be at least two more books set in the world of Deviants and I hope we learn more about where they came from and who they are. Thank you for being here, Alex, and tell Gabriel I look forward to discovering more about him the books to come.
Alex: Thank you for having me here. I had a lot of fun.
Me: Until next time!
LOL, Alex is a chatty little thing isn’t he? Getting Gabriel to talk was like pulling teeth! Anyway, to enter this week’s contest for the charms all that you have to do is comment. That’s it! Just leave a comment telling me what you thought of the interview and what you’d like to see in the upcoming novels. Remember, your comment earns you an entry into the Grand Prize drawing. The ADA Chronicles: Book One
In an attempt to atone for his sins and find some solace, ADA Agent Gabriel Romero helps other Deviants in need. But with threats from both sides—Normals and the Deviants who despise them—he finds it harder and harder to outrun his ghosts, especially after a difficult mission to rescue twin brothers held at an enemy compound, where Gabriel meets Alexander Ryker. Gabriel finds his new charge unexpectedly attractive, and that’s a complication he does not want—one he thinks he doesn’t deserve.
Despite the frosty reception from the stubborn agent who rescued him, sheltered telepath Alex feels an instant connection through the pain he sees in Gabriel’s eyes, and he does everything he can to gain his attention. The realities he must face while mastering his ability are hard, but failing to learn to defend himself is not an option. Soon he’ll need his newfound strength to convince Gabriel he deserves to live and love again.
