For today’s stop on the The Cupcake Diaries: Sprinkled with Kisses blog tour, author Darlene Panzera answers a few get to know you questions for us:
Kathy: What book do you recommend everyone should read? Do you have a comfort read?
As a Christian, I recommend that the most fantastic and number one book everyone should read is the Bible. For a comfort read my favorite books are wide and varied: anything by romance novelist, Judith McNaught, The Lord of the Rings trilogy by JR.R. Tolkien, Amish books by Beverly Lewis. I also enjoyed the young adult Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer, and Heartland series by Lauren Brooke.
Kathy: What is your guilty pleasure?
I think I’m addicted to Pinterest. I no longer let myself go on this site unless I have my writing done first. I can get caught up for hours in all the vacation travel destinations, photography, recipes, party ideas, and oh—the ideas for crafts are amazing! So many wonderful things to do, yet so little time.
Kathy: Favorite meal?
I’m a meat and potatoes girl so my favorite is a toss-up between roast beef and mashed potatoes with gravy or perhaps a good, juicy hamburger and fries.
Kathy: If you weren’t a writer, what would you be?
I can’t imagine not writing, but for a secondary career I’d be a photographer. I have always loved taking photos with my camera and my daughter picked up on it and opened her own photography business. Her college degree is in multi-media so she helps me with all my author promotional material needs and I go with her to weddings, each of us with a camera, to help her capture those special moments! I also use my photos to inspire my writing.
Kathy: If you could time travel, what time period would you visit?
I’ve always been fascinated by the turn-of-the century Victorian era in the New England states. The second story I ever wrote was set in this time period but I was just learning the craft of writing and when I dusted off that piece and reread it last year, I laughed so hard I cried because it was so bad! Maybe someday I’ll attempt another book in that time period, but for now I’m sticking to what I know—contemporary small town settings.
Of course it might also be fun to travel back to Medieval times with armored knights, swords, and jousting tournaments!
Kathy: Thank you so much for taking time to chat with us today. Congratulations on your new release!

Stacey McIntyre thinks she’ll pay off her debt in no time when Andi, Rachel, and Kim ask her to manage Creative Cupcakes’ stand on the beach. But selling cupcakes isn’t as easy as it seems. Especially when Dave Wright, the handsome owner of an ice cream truck proves he’s as determined as the dive-bombing seagulls to take away her sales.
Dave’s done with dating and done with beautiful, headstrong women like Stacey. Then the refrigeration on his truck breaks and instead of gloating, Stacey helps him out of a tight spot…and is rewarded with a kiss.
Now Stacey isn’t sure where they stand. Will Dave push her back into the role of rival? Or can she convince Mr. Wright that working together will lead to sweeter rewards?
