Interview & Print Giveaway: The Longest Night by Kara Braden

Please welcome author Kara Braden to Book Reviews & More by Kathy. She graciously answered a few get to know you questions for us today!

Kathy: What book do you recommend everyone should read? Do you have a comfort read?

Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. It’s my go-to read for when I’m feeling sad, lonely, down in the dumps, or just bored. It’s the hysterical story of the near-apocalypse, set back in a day when most telephones had wires and answering machines had tapes.

Kathy: What is your guilty pleasure?

Can I call writing a guilty pleasure? I probably should, because my husband barely sees me for weeks at a time when I’m on a roll. So, let’s go with writing. I’ll write anything. I write backstories for my characters, world-building pre-stories for future books, and a whole lot of fanfic. Inspiration strikes everywhere, and when it does, I let my muse run with the idea. I won’t even mention the story that came from seeing a recent headline about a bachelor party that stumbled on a three million year old mammoth skeleton.

Kathy: Favorite meal?

I would actually go to insane lengths for a really good New York bagel. I’ve looked into shipping bagels to Arizona, but the quality just isn’t there. Once a bagel hits the six-hour mark, it’s just not a real bagel anymore. I miss living in New York.

Kathy: If you weren’t a writer, what would you be?

Dead. No, really. I’ve been a writer all my life. Whether or not I’m getting paid to write has never been as important as just writing. The act of creation is an incredibly satisfying, unique sort of joy that nothing else can match.

Kathy: If you could time travel, what time period would you visit?

I’m torn between the far, far future, because I’d love to have a long conversation with a self-aware artificial intelligence, and the age of the dinosaurs—as long as I could manage it without being eaten.

Kathy: Thank you so much for chatting with us today! Congratulations of the release of The Longest Night and I have to confess, I am REALLY looking forward to book 2!

Summary:

This could work, whispered the little voice in the back of her mind, the voice that had been silent for seven years…

SHE SOUGHT SOLACE IN SOLITUDE
Years ago, former Marine Captain Cecily Knight fled her dark past and the nightmares forever haunting her nights. Alone in the remote Canadian wilderness, she survives day to day…until Ian Fairchild comes storming into her life and shatters her protective seclusion.

UNTIL ONE TOUCH BARED HER SOUL
Aloof but intriguing, defensive but undeniable, Ian is everything Cecily shouldn’t want but can’t ignore. He watches her with shrewd blue eyes, as if determined to decipher her secrets…and for the first time in years, she finds herself coming alive beneath the hands of a man with too many scars to count.

As the hushed and harsh winter closes in around them, two lost souls find themselves on the precipice of a love that could save their lives…or destroy them forever.
