Tour Stop & Giveaway: Assassins: Nemesis by Erica Cameron

What’s Now and What’s Next

2017 is the year of endings and beginnings as far as my writing goes. Just in the first two months, I close out the Assassins series and launch a brand new one. It’s going to be a busy couple of months.

Closing out the duology with Nemesis is a first for me. Despite authoring or co-authoring three series, this is the first one to finish! That’s a huge deal, and something I’m incredibly proud of. I’m also slightly baffled by it considering I didn’t even have a complete first draft of Discord in August of 2015. Somehow in a year and a half I’ve managed to write and edit both books in the duology? I’m a little impressed with myself, honestly. They’re both complicated mysteries written to reflect my love of action movies (seriously—if you don’t like action movies, chances are good these books won’t be up your alley). I had a lot of fun with these stories, and I’m especially fond of Nemesis because Blake is my first asexual-spectrum main character since Julian in Deadly Sweet Lies.

In February, The Ryogan Chronicles begins with Island of Exiles. It’s my first true fantasy novel, and it contains a complex militaristic society on a Nevada-like desert island. The society has accepted bisexual as the normalized orientation, but also accepts those on different spots of the orientation spectrum. There are three sexes but no gender roles with the exception of the expectation that those with a uterus will eventually have a child. I created a society where skill, intelligence, magic, and willpower are the most important aspects of a person and the ones by which all citizens are judged. Sagen sy Itagami is far from perfect, but its problems definitely aren’t ours.

Once I finish out the Ryogan trilogy, I get to work on an amazing science fiction trilogy with my Entangled editor. Massive spaceships, intragalactic war, stowaways, rebellions, cybernetics, and complicated politics. Pax Novis is a world I am extremely excited to play in, and the first book in that series will release in fall of 2018!

After that, who knows? The stars aren’t even the limit, honestly.

Summary:

Being orphaned and almost kidnapped in the space of a week sent Blake Marks into hiding. For months, Blake tries to help the Calvers—a family of vigilante bodyguards—investigate the people behind the hit on Blake’s father, Isaac, but then the safe house is compromised. Just as hired thugs storm the house to grab Blake, Daelan Calver dives into the fight, getting them both out alive.

Hiding isn’t an option anymore, but hit squads, under-the-table deals, and international espionage? Blake has no idea how to handle any of it, not even with Daelan’s family there to play teachers. The one thing Blake knows for sure is that there are only two options: keep up with the Calvers or get out of their way.

But even with the Calvers’ help and the glimmer of a possible future with Daelan giving Blake hope, chances of survival keep shrinking. The man who ordered the hit on Isaac may be dead, but his partner is viciously cold-blooded, and her plans could change the course of history. Blake wants to finish what Isaac started, but it’s looking like someone is going to die before this is over. And that someone might be Blake.

2017 tastes bittersweet to you, I think. I’m glad that you are actually happy with the series ending only as a duology. TBH, I thought it would be at least three book. Anyway, I’m happy too that you have your hands full of projects. Voices doesn’t stop bothering you, huh. The perks of being a writer or should I say the problems of being a writer. Lol! They just wouldn’t stop, eh? 😉

Thanks for coming by to Book Reviews and More by Kathy, Miss Cameron! And I wish you all the good luck in your career. <3
