November Reading Challenge: Read a Book Set in a Foreign (to you) Country

This month’s challenge is… to read a book set in a foreign (to you) country!

I really like reading books that set in different countries. It is also so interesting learning things about new places and different cultures. I read a ton of books that are set in Britain so for this challenge I am going to step out of my usual box and “travel” to… Australia!

Like last month, I am choosing two books for this month’s challenge since I like reading both mainstream and gay romances.

For my mainstream selection, I am going to read Whispers at Wongan Creek by Jaunita Kees. It sounds like a really emotional read and the rural setting is also quite appealing.

I am a HUGE fan of Renae Kaye, so I’m going to read The Blinding Light. Ms. Kaye’s novels always have a wonderful emotional component that I love and I also like how she incorporates family into the storyline.

Now, it’s your turn. Leave a comment and let us know which book you are going to read this month. We’ll check back in next month and see if you met your challenge and whether or not you enjoyed your selection!

Happy Reading!

I am also going to go with Australia – being British it is too easy on this sort of challenge to go US based for foreign, and I find the old colonnial links make the dialogue and humour very recognizable. So the pick is Rustic Melody by Nic Starr.

I really liked The Blinding Light – found it fast oaced, loved the dialogue.

I decided I needed to change things up for myself and pick a country other than Britain since I tend to read a lot of books set there.

Australia is another favorite book setting of mine. I am a huge fan of Renae Kaye so hopefully I’ll enjoy The Blinding Light just as much as her other novels.

Hmm, I think I have some Nic Starr books in my TBR. I’ll have to check and see.

Oh! If you haven’t read it, Jane Harper’s mystery, The Dry is fantastic. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. It looks like it’ll be different than the first novel.
