January Reading Challenge: Read a Retelling of a Fairy Tale

I am often surprised when authors reimagine childhood’s fairy tales into modern day love stories that are often just as enjoyable as the original story.

In October, I was delighted to see Andrew Grey had a new book coming out. When I pre-ordered Taming the Beast, I did not make the connection between his upcoming release and the fairy tale classic Beauty and the Beast. Needless to say, I had a HUGE DUH moment when I finally re-read the book summary. I am looking forward to seeing how it compares to the original.

In November, I was intrigued to discover Sarah Price’s first release in her An Amish Fairytale series. In Belle: An Amish Retelling of Beauty and the Beast, a young Amish woman ends up marrying a reclusive, scarred man who ends up buying her family’s farm. I cannot wait to dive into this novel!

Now, it’s your turn. Leave a comment and let us know which book you are going to read this month. We’ll check back in next month and see if you met your challenge and whether or not you enjoyed your selection!

Happy Reading!

Couldn’t spot a fairy tale retelling but have got a legend based one if that will do!

They are hard to find unless you just happen to stumble across them like I did LOL.

And yes, When I First Met My King is a great selection. I love Harper Fox so I’ll have to check this one out!

I have a couple of versions of The Little Matchgirl. Not the most cheerful story.

Tara Lain has a series The Pennymaker Tales. So far she has done Cinderella, Beauty & The Beast, Snow White, and Peter Pan (not a fairy tale). I haven’t read any of them. This challenge is what I need to get me started. My pick will be Driven Snow.
