Summary:

A Texas Ranger, a lady blacksmith, a fierce passion, a dangerous game.

Caleb Graham has spent the last four years in too many dangerous situations to count. As a Texas Ranger, he knows no fear, or at least he never shows it. When he’s sent to force a blacksmith off government seized property, he runs face to face into the woman who will change his life.

Aurora Foster grew up on the very land the obnoxious Ranger is trying to throw her off of. Her parents and her husband died for it and there is no chance she would leave without a fight. A lady blacksmith might be an anomaly but she has the strength of the steel she forges and the courage to fight for what she believes is right.

When Aurora is inadvertently injured by Caleb, he seeks medical help from a neighboring ranch. The sprawling hacienda is full of the finer things in life and the one person Caleb never expected to see again… his youngest brother Benjamin. Forced to flee from a man who has kept the boy captive, the trio become traveling companions in a deadly game where no one wins.

Life turns upside down and sideways for Caleb and Aurora, caught in a game neither of them expected while they desperately try to save the boy who was lost to his family. Pursued and hunted, the three of them ride for the Circle Eight ranch. The unlikely pair of rescuers fight their attraction and for their lives.

The Review:

Emma Lang’s newest release Circle Eight: Caleb is a fast-paced and action filled historical romance. Texas Ranger Caleb Graham’s latest orders are to evict blacksmith Rory Foster from government property. Imagine his surprise when Rory is actually Aurora, a feisty woman blacksmith who has no intention of losing her birthright. When Rory’s stubbornness leads to a injury that needs immediate medical attention, she and Caleb journey to a nearby ranch where Caleb meets an unexpected person from his past.

Aurora and Caleb are wonderfully drawn characters that are fully fleshed and three dimensional. Aurora is a strong heroine who is fully capable of taking care of herself. She is a no nonsense woman who does what she has to do in order to survive working in a man’s world. Aurora is tough, gruff and she speaks her mind.

Caleb Graham loves his family, but he wanted a life outside the family ranch. He loves his job as a Ranger and while he misses his family, he is not quite ready to return home just yet. But all of that changes when he meets Aurora and rescues his younger brother Benjy.

While I enjoyed Circle Eight: Caleb, the romance between Aurora and Brody developed a little too quickly considering the circumstances they were in. Some of the story is repetitive and a few of the situations felt a little contrived.

Overall, Circle Eight: Caleb is an easy to read and fast moving story that perfectly blends romance and adventure. The characters are well developed and likeable. Emma Lang’s heroines are strong and despite the fact the men try to keep them out of harm’s way, they are more than able to take care of themselves.

Another wonderful installment of the Circle Eight series that fans are sure to enjoy. The Graham family bond remains strong and the circle is strengthened with the return of Benjy and the addition of Aurora to this close knit clan.
